Astilbe Amethyst (Arendsii Hybrid) is a stunning perennial that adds elegance and texture to any garden with its feathery, lilac-purple plumes and lush, deep green foliage. A favorite among shade gardeners, this hardy variety produces upright, airy blooms that sway gracefully in the breeze, creating a soft, romantic effect. Flowering in early to mid-summer, Amethyst Astilbe is a pollinator magnet, attracting bees and butterflies while remaining resistant to deer and rabbits. This Astilbe is perfect for borders, woodland gardens, or mass plantings, where it creates a vibrant display of color and texture. Its finely cut, fern-like leaves provide season-long interest, even when the blooms have faded. Amethyst Astilbe thrives in consistently moist, well-draining soil and prefers partial to full shade, making it an excellent choice for shaded garden beds, alongside hostas, ferns, and other shade-loving perennials. Ideal as a cut flower, both fresh and dried, Astilbe ‘Amethyst’ enhances floral arrangements with its delicate, plume-like flowers. As a long-lived perennial, it naturalizes well over time, forming impressive clumps that can be divided for propagation. With minimal maintenance required beyond regular watering, this variety is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking effortless beauty in shaded areas. Whether planted as a striking focal point or combined with other perennials for a layered effect, Astilbe ‘Amethyst’ promises years of graceful, colorful blooms.

  • Long-Lasting Blooms: The airy, plume-like flowers of Astilbe Amethyst are long-lasting and can be enjoyed for several weeks during the summer, adding a graceful, soft texture to the garden.
  • Height & Growth Habit: With a mature height of 24 to 36 inches, this hybrid variety forms upright, dense clumps of foliage that stand tall in garden beds or borders, adding structure and texture to the landscape.
  • Deer and Rabbit Resistant: Thanks to its finely textured foliage and unique blooms, Astilbe Amethyst is not typically favored by deer or rabbits, making it a reliable choice for gardens in areas where these animals are prevalent.
  • Versatile Garden Use: Ideal for borders, woodland gardens, or as part of a mixed perennial bed, Astilbe Amethyst provides a vibrant and textured contrast when paired with other shade-loving plants like hostas, ferns, and lungwort.
  • Easy to Grow and Maintain: Once established, Astilbe Amethyst requires little maintenance. Its adaptability to moist, shaded areas, along with its ability to thrive with minimal care, makes it an excellent choice for gardeners of all levels.

Product Care Instructions Astilbe Amethyst thrives in partial to full shade. Astilbe prefers moist, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the Astilbe bare roots, approximately 4 to 6 inches deep. The crown (where the roots meet the stems) should be level with or slightly above the soil surface. Do not plant too deeply, as this can suffocate the crown and hinder growth. Space each Astilbe plant about 18 to 24 inches apart. Water the newly planted bare roots thoroughly.
